Congratulations Dragonfly, winners of the inaugural
Ka Pai SOUP!
WOW Carterton, what an amazing night we had at the first Ka Pai SOUP event! The foyer was full, people were excited and the pot was generously filled with $1320 cash for the winning pitch!
An audience of over 70 people voted Dragonfly, a Wairarapa College band seeking event listings and marketing support, as the winner of the first Ka Pai SOUP event securing just ONE vote more than the runner up R2R - Rangatahi to Rangatira Carterton Youth Group.
Developed to celebrate community initiatives, the SOUP event showcased Community-Led Development at it's finest, with the audience using the Q&A time after each pitch to tease out the ideas and offer support, connections, and funding for each of the five pitches.
For Dragonfly, this included a practice and gig venue free of charge, permission to use the Town Square for a future gig and booking the band for 2 large scale events!
You can watch the top 2 pitches below by clicking on the images. If interested in further supporting any of these initiatives get in touch with the pitchers, links to contacts included below, or email hello@kapaicarterton.nz and we can put you in touch.
The next Ka Pai SOUP is in the planning for May 2020 so if you have an idea or project you would like to pitch, get in touch!
